Paducah Kentucky

My nephew Colten qualified to attend the US South Region Ski competition. It was being held in Paducah Kentucky which is only about four and a half hours away. Since it was so close we just had to go! We usually only see my older brother's family once a year at Christmas, so it was great to be able to see them an extra time this year.
Cullen was a great playmate to Haven. He has such a tender heart and took good care of her.
Levi was taking a nap. He likes to snuggle or suck on his burp rags. This time he covered his face and fell asleep. It was so funny.
Haven had fun playing outside and getting into things.
Grandma Fry and Haven getting ready to watch Colten ski.
Usually in normal competitions they get three "sets" to try rack up the buoy score. At regionals they only get one "set". They increase boat speed at each pass and shorten the rope when they hit their max speed. When they miss a ball then it is over. No second tries this time.
Here is Colten going around one of the buoys. They zig zag back and forth stretching out to ski around them. His hand slipped off the handle early on and he did not get near his best. It was great to see him ski, but I was sad for him because I knew he would be disappointed. He easily could have gotten first place.
Haven playing her own form of baseball golf with a stick and ball.
To our great surprise Colten got third place! We thought since he fell so early he was out of the competition, but he had a shorter rope length and that gave him credit for more buoys then he skied. It is very confusing!!! Colten is the boy with the blond surfer hair cut.
We had a wonderful time. We were so excited to see Sheryl, the boys and Sheryl's parents. Colten is qualified to go to Nationals!
