Fort Something or Another - Vacation Part 4

Okay, so I forget the name of this fort, but I think they said it is the most well preserved fort in America. It was built in the 1800's and the outside of the buildings have held up great! They still need to refurbish most of the buildings. There were quite a few. I always thought things were built of wood or brick or stone in the 1800's. This was some sort of concrete stuff.

 Okay, look close. What is wrong with this picture?

 These pictures were in the museum part of the fort. They cracked us up. This one looked like the wife was dead on the couch while her husband was reading a book so casual like.

 We loved the hip action on this cowboy. He looks so cool doesn't he!

Smokey the Bear - Vacation Part 3

Did you know that there is a Smokey the Bear museum? I sure didn't, but there is. It was a small museum that had some interesting facts about the actual bear and forest fires. Of course I can not remember them now, but trust me there were some interesting facts. Oh, one of them was that the real bear had a mate who died just a year or two before or after Smokey the Bear died. I know that is not the most interesting fact, but it is one I remember.

 Smokey the bear is buried here.

 There was a pretty walking path that had some interesting plants and pretty trees.

 Remember, you can prevent forest fires!

Almost Heaven - Vacation Part 2

The name of the cabin in the NM mountains was called Almost Heaven. It was a cute little cabin and it had just enough room for all of us. It was set among some beautiful trees. On the windy day the pine needles hitting the roof sounded like rain. They kinda hurt too when one would hit you!

 We would put Hannah on the blanket on the floor, but she always rolled off.

 There were a lot of deer nearby. One day we saw around eight or so!

On the way to New Mexico - Vacation Part 1

This post is a bit late, but not too bad. The beginning of October we took a family vacation. We were headed to New Mexico to spend some time vacationing with Jonathan's parents. On the way there we decided to take our time, since we do have three young kids. Our first leg of the trip we traveled to Oklahoma City. A friend told us about a Science Museum that had some kids activities, so we thought that a morning there would be a good way to get their wiggles out before the second leg of the trip.

They had a nice toddler area in which Haven and Levi had a grand time. There were little face painting sticks.

A big tractor. I know you can't tell from this picture, but it was a tractor.

Hannah just hung out with daddy.

I was excited to use the Segway. It was quite strange. I was glad for the man that made sure we didn't go flying anywhere!

There was a big mouth. At first the kids did not want to sit on the teeth.

 There was a big tree house type thing. There was a tower where you climbed a TON of stairs to the top of the slide. Jonathan climbed the stairs with the kids, but they didn't go down the slide and I was wondering why until I climbed the stairs and didn't even get to the top before I can back down. That was a SCARY tall slide!!! 

 You can't see Haven, but she is behind Levi.

They had an aviation part that was cool.

 Too bad we didn't get to really fly to the moon.

There was so much more that we did, but for some reason I didn't get pictures. Oh well that would have made this post really long!
